Membership Covenant
Being brought by divine grace to repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, to give up ourselves to him, and having been baptized upon profession of faith, we solemnly and joyfully covenant together in membership to walk in faith, hope, and love for the glory of God.
- We will gather together to worship God on the Lord’s Day and keep the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Table.1
- We will follow the leadership of the shepherds God has given us as they follow Christ our Chief Shepherd.2
- We will cultivate love and care for one another as a true family of faith, praying for and serving one another, sharing in joys and sorrows, through sickness and health, encouraging and edifying one another until the Lord leads us from this place, he returns, or we go to be with him in glory.3
- We will guard the doctrine of the church, standing firm in the gospel and walking in truth while rejecting error and false teachings. We will obey God’s inerrant Word as our final authority. We affirm Occoquan Bible Church’s Statement of Faith as our summation of Christian doctrine.4
- We will guard the holiness of the church, seeking to walk in holiness as individuals, as families, and in our fellowship with one another. We will seek to honor the Lord as holy in all relationships and places, exhorting and admonishing one another to walk in holiness.5
- We will guard the unity of the church. We will seek to walk in unity and peace with one another according to God’s Word, maintaining the unity of the Spirit as we graciously bear with and forgive one another.6
- We will pray, give, and labor together in the work of the gospel—magnifying Christ from all the Scriptures, maturing saints for every good work, making disciples from all nations, and moving out to all places with the good news.7
As recipients of God’s mercies, we gladly give ourselves to the Lord as a living sacrifice, and by his grace we will seek to fulfill these obligations. Should the Lord remove us from this place, we will seek counsel from the elders before leaving the membership of Occoquan Bible Church, and we will unite with another gospel-centered church.
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all.
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all.
